This is a pic of a food web. It is similar to a food chain, it's just the only difference is that it's bigger and you could say that a food web is built of lots of little food chains. Their would also be lots of these at Ferny Creek.
A food chain is a line of predators and preys which looks like the picture displayed here. It is used to show who eats who and the life cycle of food. This is why it is called a food chain. It is used a lot at Ferny Creek because their are plants, insects, frogs and more things used in the food chain.
Us Humans have everything to do with an ecosystem such as Ferny Creek because we may litter or wrecking the plants or animals. But if we stop this the ecosystem Ferny Creek will take care of itself and will not have rubbish everywhere aswell as treated the biotic factors inappropriately.
The differences between biotic and abiotic factors is that biotic factors are living organisms. For example, people, animals, plants and more things that can breathe. And on the other hand, abiotic factors are non-living organisms such as rocks, water, air, wind, temputare and light.
This is a picture of what Ferny Creek should look like in the future if we treat it well, don't litter, don't wreck the plants and don't throw things around.
Here is a picture of a pile of rubbish found at Ferny Creek and is very disgusting to have in a beautiful ecosystem like this. The people who litter are very, very naughty and should be fined immediately. You should not litter and if you stop it can make a massive difference.
At Ferny Creek we found a possum box made by some locals near by. It is a great habitat for animals at Ferny Creek and I'm sure there would be heaps more little insect and other living things at Ferny Creek. A living thing is called a biotic thing.
This is a picture of some filthy water that we found at Ferny Creek. We found lots of dirty water with a ph of 7. I wouldn't think there would be many living things in the water but no matter how dirty the water is Ferny Creek is still a great ecosystem.
A close up on some of this great soil at Ferny Creek. There would be a lot of worms and living things inside of this dirt. We tested some soils ph and got an average of 6 with chemicals planted into the soil.
In our visit to Ferny Creek basically all you could see was plants. But in saying this, this is a good thing because if there are many biotic factors then there can survive and feed off these plants as well as using plants as homes or places to go when hot or cold.
